Caspian SeaEndemic marine mammalEnclosed water
The only marine mammal of the Caspian, living inside a sea with no open-ocean escape route.

The Caspian seal shows that Persian Wilds is not only mountain and desert. The Caspian is an inland sea with its own pressures: fisheries, pollution, climate shifts, river inflow and shoreline change.
Because the seal lives only in this waterbody, the health of the entire sea becomes part of its story. It is a species profile and a habitat profile at the same time.
Caspian Sea waters, coastal haul-out areas and seasonal ice context.
Fish predator and marine indicator in a landlocked basin.
Enclosed seas, fisheries, pollution and climate pressure.
Endemism can look like uniqueness, but it also means dependence. A Caspian seal cannot simply shift into another ocean. Its survival is tied to the condition of one sea shared by several countries.
